비록(秘錄), 그리고 완성을 반복하는 일 

나의  시그니처 작업은  물레 성형 후 흙이 마르기 전 면을 쳐내는 과정을 통해 완성된다. 흙은 뜯기고, 깎이고, 다듬어진다. 그렇게 남겨진 과정의 흔적들은 빛이 닿는 방향에 따라 서로 다른 표정을 드러내며 깊이를 만들어낸다. 

삶 또한 이와 닮아 있다. 우리는 살아가며 수많은 시행착오와 상처, 깎임과 다듬질을 경험한다. 오랫동안 나는 그 흔적들을 감추고 완전한 모습에 가까워지려 했다. 

그러나 시간이 흐르며 깨닫게 되었다. 상처는 숨겨야 할 결함이 아니라 살아온 삶의 궤적이며, 회복력의 증거라는 것을. 

삶의 완성은 먼 미래에 있는 목표가 아니라 지금 이 순간에도 반복되고 지속되는 과정 속에 존재하는 것인지도 모른다. 

완성은 도달해야 할 상태가 아니라, 스스로를 받아들이며 살아가는 행위에 가깝다. 

나의 작업은 체념의 기록이 아닌 희망을 품은 비록(秘錄) 이기를 바란다. 

빛이 닿는 면에 따라 다른 아름다움을 드러내는 도자기 처럼 삶도 저마다의 과정을 품은  본연의 아름다움으로 완결되어 간다.

그리고 나는 오늘도, 흠결을 품은 완성을 반복한다.

My signature mugs and vases are formed through a process of carving facets into the clay while it is still soft. In this stage, the surface is cut, scraped, refined, and sometimes torn away. As material is removed, new planes emerge. Each surface responds differently to light, revealing unexpected depth, shadow, and character. This process reflects the way I understand life. As we move through time, we are shaped by countless experiences—trials, wounds, failures, and moments of growth. For years, I believed that completion meant overcoming imperfections and moving closer to an ideal self. Yet I gradually came to realize that the marks left by life are not evidence of incompleteness. They are evidence of having lived. The traces we often wish to conceal are records of endurance, resilience, and transformation. They reveal not weakness, but the capacity to heal and continue. What appears imperfect may in fact be the most honest expression of who we are. Perhaps completion does not exist in some distant future. Perhaps it is already unfolding within the continuous process of becoming. Completion is not a fixed destination, but a state that is renewed through each passing moment. Through my work, I hope to embrace these traces as records of hope. Just as every faceted surface reveals a different beauty when touched by light, every life carries its own depth, shaped by time and experience. Today, once again, I continue the act of completion.
